snek GBC
a near-finished game, releasing this sooner than id like cause i signed up for a game jam.. yikes!
note : i have only found out a day after releasing this that there exists a game called Snek GBA, sorry if anyone got confused by this
i really wanted this to release with everything but sound in v1.0, but i was dragged into a game jam, and never really recovered
this game is open source! (check "links" in "more information")
i dare you to beat my (as of writting this) best score of 2770, time: 47'12''46'''
current features:
- DMG, SGB GBC compatibility
- actually works
- score, time, # of pauses (to prevent cheesing with it)
- doesnt crash at 256 (you cant reach 256, snake length caps out at 255)
- pretty fast
- may or may not have a few oversights (sometimes the incorrect tile is used?)
- decent amount of polish i guess? (cant 180)
- runs on real hardware (untested actually, but runs in highly accurate emulators)
planned features:
- score that isnt length*10
- a few skins to choose from
- music & sfx
- general code cleanup (the source is a mess)
- maybe ill improve the GBC/SGB compatibility (snek tongue is green, and fixing that would take a bit of effort)
a few notes :
- ROM image name is pong, guess why.
- length actually displays food eaten, this is intentional
absolutely no warranty!!
very short special thanks: pinobatch/pin8 (rand.z80)
